Performance Of Ghanaians In Europe Over The Weekend; Dauda and Kamaldeen Win MOTM

Ghanaian players abroad over the weekend displayed top level football in Europe as football gradually resumes across major league on the continent amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

In demand Mohammed Salisu and Thomas Teye Partey partied for their sides in Spain with Dauda Mohammed and Kamaldeen Sulemana winning Men Of The Matches for their various clubs in Denmark.


*Deportivo Alves 1-2 Real Valladolid

In the Spanish La Liga over the weekend, Mohammed Salisu lasted the entire duration in their crucial 1-2 away triumph over Alaves at the Municipal de Butarque.

*Real Mallorca 0-4 FC Barcelona

At San Moix, Real Mallorca were thumped heavily by league leaders FC Barcelona last Saturday night.

Iddrisu Baba was subbed on for Marc Pedraza on the 58th minute, Lumor Agbenyenu missed out due to injury whereas Baba Abdul Rahman couldn’t make the squad.

Athletico Bilbao 1-1 Athletico Madrid

The Rojiblancos got held to a 1-1 stalemate by Athletico Bilbao at the San Mamerse yesterday. Top transfer target Thomas Partey played all minutes of the game.

Celta Vigo were humbled 1-2 by Villarreal last Saturday at the Banca Balaidos. Ghanaian centre-back Joseph Aidoo was brought on for Paper Cheick on the 46th minute.

The Nerazurries despite holding Napoli to a 1-1 draw at the San Paolo got evicted from the Coppa Italia after tasting defeat in the first leg. Kwadwo Asamoah was an unused substitute in the game.


*Fortuna Düsseldorf 0-1 Borussia Dortmund

Erling Haaland’s late header just on the stroke of full time broke the heart of the fans at the Merkur-Spiel Arena over the weekend.

Ghanaian trio of Kelvin Ofori, Kassim Nuhu Adams and Bernard Tekpetey couldn’t feature in that encounter.

*Paderborn O7 1-5 Weder Bremen

Christopher Antwi played 72 minutes over the weekend for Paderborn after being humiliated by Weder Bremen in the German top flight.


*Goztepe 1-3 Trabzonspor

In Turkey, their top flight league resumed over the weekend with lots of fixtures. Caleb Ekuban converted from the spot to net Trabzonspor’s second in their resounding 1-3 away triumph over Goztepe last Friday.

*Fenerbahce 2-1 Kayserispor

Kayseriapor nearly pulled a surprise at the Sukru Saracoglu after scoring first on the 59th minute through Ghanaian Bernard Mensah. Two late goals ensured a 2-1 victory for the home side in the end.

*Yemi Malatyaspor 1-2 Kasimpasa

Yemi Malatyaspor lost once again over the weekend still keeping them in the relegation zone on the league table. Ghanaian Afriyie Acquah enjoyed 76 minutes of action in that game.

*Gaziantep FK 1-1 Ankaracugu

Gaziantep got held over the weekend by Ankaracugu following the resumption of the Turkish league. Patrick Twumasi was brought on for the home side in the last seven minutes to end proceedings at the Gaziantep Stadium.


*Esbjerg 4-2 Randers FC

Former Asante Kotoko forward Dauda Mohammed featured and contributed a goal in their emphatic 4-2 victory over the weekend. The on-loan Anderlecht boy went on to clinch the man of the match award in the game.

*FC Nordsjaelland 1-1 FC Koebenhavn

FC Koebenhavn stretched the Academy boys to a score drawn game at the Right to Dream Park over the weekend.

Kamaldeen Sulemana was on target whereas his fellow countrymen Kudus Mohammed, Abdul Mumin, Isaac Atanga and Abu Francis all featured for Nordsjaelland.


*Mariupol 1-1 Vorskla Poltava

Ghana youth international Najeeb Yakubu was on target for Vorskla Poltava in their 1-1 stalemate with Mariupol during the weekend.

*Slovacko 0-2 Sparta Prague

Former Dreams FC winger Benjamin Tetteh was introduced into the game on the 46th minute as Sparta Prague humbled Slovacko by 2-0 at their own backyard.
