Kwasi Appiah Not Paid Due To COVID-19

The Ministry of Youth and Sports have stated that the former Black Stars head coach James Kwasi Appiah is not paid because of the coronavirus pandemic.

This is coming from the Spokesperson of the Minister of Youth and Sports Kofi Asare Brako who states that due to the pandemic, sponsorship package that is used to pay Black Stars coaches is not coming anymore.

That, according him, is the reason why his last eight months salary plus winning bonus is not paid to Kwasi Appiah.

In an interview with BBC Sports Africa, he reveals that the Ministry have been in constant contact with Kwasi Appiah to keep him in assurance of the Ministry’s will to pay his allowance.

“The salary of the head coach of the Black stars has always been paid through a sponsorship package, and it is unfortunate this has now dragged into the period of the coronavirus pandemic.
“We have paid him for the two-year contract period of 24 months. What is left is the extended contract period of eight months, of which we have already paid three months.
“We are still in touch with the former coach and in no time we will pay him. Soon, all money will be paid to Appiah.”
Kwasi Appiah was not paid in his last five months before the expiration of his contract summing up to $135,000.00.
