Serie A side SSC Napoli have announced the transfer of Nigeria forward Victor Osimhen from Ligue 1 outfit Lille OSC in a club record transfer.
Growing up in the Strikers Academy in Nigeria, Osimhen started his primary footsteps in world football. Later on he moved to Germany to play in the Bundesliga with Wolfsburg in season 2017/18.
A year later, he moved to Belgian club Charleroi where he participated in a total of 36 official games scoring 20 goals in 2018/19. His performances earned him a move to Lille in 2018/19, where he scored 18 goals in 38 appearances.
Osimhen’s transfer to Napoli is reportedly worth €70 million, according to RMC Sport, becoming the Partenopei’s most expensive transfer and beating Gonzalo Higuain’s €39 million signing in 2013 from Real Madrid. Though the final fee could rise to €80 million due to add-ons.
The 21-year-old has signed a five year contract with Napoli with an option for an additional year.
On international level, Osimhen won the U-17 World Cup with Nigeria in 2015 where he ended the tournament as top scorer with 10 goals. He made his debut for the senior team in 2017 and so far he has collected 10 international caps with four goals to his name.
